Free Artist in Residence at Hjørring Graphic Workshop for artist members.

In our Graphics Workshop, it is possible to make woodcuts, copper etchings, linoleum cuts, etc. The time of the stay is agreed individually.
Hjørring Grafisk Værksted's purpose AiR is to create an experimental graphic platform for the performing artists we have in our association.
Who can apply?
- Artists who are members of the association (if you are not a member, you can see more here: https://hgv.dk/pages/foreningen-1)
- Artists who can work independently with graphic printing techniques
Economy:
- It is free to apply
- The stay is free (including materials and accommodation in our artists' accommodation)
- HGV keeps 25% of all finished prints.
- The artist himself provides transport to and from Hjørring.
Facilities:
Hjørring Grafisk Værksted is an artist-run association that has a 500 m2 house located in the old town of Hjørring (10 min. on foot from the train station).
The house contains two graphic workshops, a framing workshop, artist accommodation and a gallery where we sell graphics produced at HGV. In addition, there is the Graphics Workshop and an artist residence, where artists who work at the workshop are accommodated.
The residency is for artists who want to work independently for a week in the intaglio workshop with "old-school" graphics. The 70 square meter graphics workshop contains two gravure presses, the largest of which has a format of 240x110 cm. It is possible to make both letterpress and intaglio printing on the presses, such as copper etchings, woodcuts and linoleum cuts.
Artist residence:
The artist accommodation is an apartment located in the house and contains a kitchen-dining room and two bedrooms. There is a shower and toilet in the corridor for the artists.
Materials:
The workshop will purchase materials (tools, paper and paint) prior to the stay, which we will make available to the artists. Agreement on material requirements is agreed upon when you are granted the stay.
Content of the application:
- Name, age, place of residence, e-mail and phone number (if applicable, website and Instagram profile)
- Visual description of project proposal for the stay. If there are specific materials or working methods you wish to work with, this should be written in the application (max. 1 A4 page).
- Visual documentation of contemporary graphic works that are not older than 5 years (max. 3 A4 pages).
- The application must be combined in a PDF of max. take up 5 pages in total.
